Jacques Villon--Cubist Works on Paper, Page Three
This website includes work selected from the 353 etchings, lithographs and paintings on paper, by Jacques Villon, (1875-1963-French) in the collection of Jack Leissring. Villon, born Gaston Duchamp, was the premier 'painter-engraver' of the 20th Century, receiving all of the important French and European awards and honors. He was the eldest brother of Raymond Duchamp-Villon, the sculptor and of Marcel and Suzanne Duchamp, painters. This page includes images of Villon's "Cubist" works. In 2001 the Philadelphia Museum of Art published an important catalog of the "cubist" work in their collection. The Leissring collection includes most of those images and many others attributable to "Cubist" tradition. In 2013, J. C. Leissring Fine Art Press published a catalog of the "cubist" work in the Leissring collection including an important critical essay.
